Updates 2025
Patchnote 1.3.2 - Mega Shanites Search and Bug Fixes!
15/04/2025NEW FEATURES
- Mega Search, buddies. You can now search for users by their username in the search bar, and it matches directly on their slug. Find your Shanites profiles in a blink!
IMPROVEMENTS & OPTIMIZATIONS
- Global translations are in place. Buttons leading to game pages across various sections now use global translations via `everywhere_game`.
- Bye bye, www. Access to the site via the www URL is now blocked to avoid duplicates. Cleaner and less confusing for search engines.
- More accessible toggle. The button that toggles between 2 or 3 offers per row now comes with an accessibility label. Because everyone deserves to personalize their display without hassle.
- Store images in XL mode. Store image URLs now use x50 instead of x30. Pixel art is great, but only in games.
- Mega Search, turbocharged. We've revamped the search to work based on the slug instead of the name. No more fuss over special characters!
- Donator ranking simplified. We removed several details to keep only the essentials.
- GOG and MAG—uh... ITCH.IO. We redesigned the icons for these two stores to make them prettier and more noticeable.
- Synopsis locked. To avoid SEO issues and other problems, synopses are no longer editable for now—except for the admin.
- Multiverse under construction. A message will let users know that multiverse-linked series aren't available yet. We're fine-tuning it to make it awesome!
DEVELOPMENTS & ADMINISTRATIONS
- Now you see me, now you don't, now you see me... now you don't. The English-speaking section of the Discord is back, along with lots of new improvements for the community.
- International networks. Social media @ handles have changed. Some are back to Shaninjah on platforms where the connection with the community is stronger and the conversation more direct.
BUG FIXES
- Error-ception. Errors 401 to 504 have been fixed, with both French and English translations as a bonus. We even found a trick to get the translations working on these pages.
- Trisha's fickle menu. We attempted a fix by adjusting the menu layout: `class="fixed w-full lg:block hidden lg:w-60"` became `class="hidden lg:block fixed w-full lg:w-60"`. If it works, Trisha will treat us to cookies!
- Recovered 'cover not found' image. The bug where the placeholder image wasn't showing in the list of offered games has been fixed. I had left a test URL—oops...
- Updated update button look. We've changed the text on the update button on game modification pages.
- Tag page images, squared. We've fixed a visual bug on tag pages where game images left an empty space on the right. Now, the images fill all available space—just like our satellites. Enjoy it while it lasts; in 20 or 30 years there won't be any left!
Patchnote 1.3.1 - Tags unveiled further!
03/04/2025NEW FEATURES
- Tags are life. You can now check out tag categories, browse through available tags, and find all games linked to each tag. If you're lost with a tag you don't recognize, no worries: Cybersouls provides a clear definition for each one. Cool, right?
IMPROVEMENTS & OPTIMIZATIONS
- Bye-bye foxes and Fakitsu. We ditched the old fox and Fakitsu images to make way for Akitsu’s illustrations.
- Expiration in sight! A small gray message now appears on the offers page to indicate the end date. No more unpleasant surprises.
- Get the Game button makeover. The 'Get the Game' button got a makeover. Gone is the fluorescent yellow that screamed 'click me'—the button now turns gray on pages where the offer has expired.
- Extreme makeover. The contributors ranking page now rocks a cyberpunk style.
- Simplified playtime. We're updating the display of 'main quest + side quests.' Because doing math to play is a drag, let’s be honest.
DEVELOPMENTS & ADMINISTRATIONS
- Admins 1, users 0. We added a check so that admins can peek at the hidden console.logs while regular users stay in the dark. Big Shaninjah sees everything—you don’t.
- Masterkey activated. Yes, we now have a magic key. What does it do? Stay tuned…
- Scrambled data, confused raccoons.
- Newsletters incoming. We configured the server data to avoid ending up in spam. We scored a perfect 10/10!
- Tags reclassified. Tags without a category now inherit the label 'Miscellaneous.' We brainstormed, theorized, and bam, there’s the solution.
BUG FIXES
- Overzealous visitors rejected. If a random person tries to mark a game as 'completed' or '100%' without logging in, they get hit with an error message: 'Log in first, champ.' (Translated because we're bilingual and proud.)
- Broken links, be gone. The URLs to game profiles and offer pages in both mega push and simple push now work again.
- Spring cleaning. The design_pot route, which did nothing but confuse search engines, has been removed.
- On-the-fly game addition: check! Fixed the bug that blocked the creation of an offer for a game not yet in the database.
- Moderation page unlocked. The bug that prevented the display of the page for moderating game additions is now fixed.
- Forgotten contribution? Not anymore. Adding or moderating a cover image now earns its well-deserved +1. Justice served.
- Capricious display. The option to choose between 2 or 3 games per row wasn’t working anymore. We added a bit of magic to the cookies.
- Squared translations. The FR/EN texts for the donation pool in the aside layout were off. We corrected them so now it speaks proper French and English.
Patchnote 1.3 - Game pages are live !
09/02/2025NEW FEATURES
- Game pages. Cybersouls is turning into a true video game Pokédex. All essential information about a game, gathered and centralized in a single page accessible to everyone.
- Community interface for editing game pages. Want to add an underrated game that no one has ever heard of? With this interface, you too can become a true video game historian.
- Game page moderation system. To prevent Outlast from getting the 'Family Game' tag or, even worse, someone claiming that God of War is available on Xbox, moderation now wields R.Y.N.O weapons (Raccoon Yanking Nuclear Obliterator).
- Cybersouls is taking shape. You can now link your Steam account to Cybersouls. You get a page to view your achievements. This is just the beginning!
- Typos are no longer a big deal. Messed up when entering your email? No worries, you can now update your email in your account settings.
IMPROVEMENTS & OPTIMIZATIONS
- Accidental ninja. A new button appears to bring back the 'Become a CyberShaton' popup. For those who closed it too quickly the first time.
- We set up some delicious honey pots. The pesky little raccoons that invaded our offices this winter should soon get fat and no longer squeeze through our pipes!
- Mega Search improvements. When deleting a search query to start a new one, the results now update instantly. No more needing to close and reopen the list. Phew!
- Cybersouls can also be undone. At the request of beta testers, you can now unlink your Steam account in your settings page.
- Updated the manifest.webmanifest. To improve icon and text display on mobile. If you don't have good games on your phone, at least you'll have nice icons.
- After 7 years, no more 'coming soon'. Added a button to check a game's page in the free games catalog. Better late than never!
DEVELOPMENTS & ADMINISTRATIONS
- No dress code needed, but let’s keep it tidy! Added a limit manager for the Steam API, with a daily CRON to reset the counter. Let's stay on Steam's good side.
- Big Shaninjah is watching you. Implemented an admin interface that records and displays all user and moderator actions in a clear and readable format.
BUG FIXES
- Redirect to the login page in English. You were in French, and BAM, you got sent to Albion when logging in? That’s over now.
- Mega, and I mean MEEEEEGA Search. Fixed a bug where a search containing only spaces returned all games and free games from the database.
- No more binoculars for peeping raccoons. URLs that allowed access to the full database of games and free games are now protected by our ninjas.
- No, I don’t want to donate, ma’am. The price 5.69 now displays correctly without weird rounding... (I still don’t understand this bug).
- Oui oui baguette. Fixed typos and added missing translations. We’re getting better!
